About me and my therapy practice

Im Victoria, a Íø±¬ÃÅ accredited therapist with over 20 years clinical experience in various settings. I specialise in Trauma, PTSD, addictions and women's health. I also work with autism, ADHD, menopause, stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, life transitions and more. Together we will create a bespoke plan based on what you hope to achieve in therapy and I will offer you compassion and safety, so you can begin to trust in our relationship and the work we will embark on together. My approach is integrative and holistic, using evidence based therapies, to support physical, mental, emotional well-being and health.

Practice description

I offer generic talking therapy, EMDR Therapy, Somatic body work and bespoke packages for alcohol and drug addictions and/or misuse. You may be drawn to one particular approach, or a combination of different approaches that I use. Either way, I tailor the therapy to what feels the best fit for you.

Traditional talking therapy is exactly how it sounds. We meet, usually once a week and talk. Some of this may be about things in the past that still bother you, areas of life in the here and now where you feel stuck, or future based fears that are holding you back from enjoying life in the present moment. The sessions are guided by whatever you wish to bring to sessions, and can be either short or long term. I can integrate various different, evidence based counselling approaches into this type of work, with a style and pace that suits you.

EMDR therapy is a psychotherapy that uses bilateral eye movements whilst a person focuses on a distressing memory with a focus on changing the emotions, thoughts, and behaviours linked to traumatic memory, allowing the brain to process it naturally. Unlike traditional therapy, it does not require you to talk in detail about the trauma, and although some discussion may occur, it is not considered a talking therapy. This can be useful for people who struggle to verbalise their experiences or who find talking about the distressing memories feels re-traumatising.

Somatic bodywork is a body centred approach designed to release physical and emotional tension in the body, promoting a deeper mind/body connection, nervous system regulation, and a greater sense of presence and wholeness. Body scanning, breath work, grounding exercises, and mindful movement are some strategies I like to incorporate so people can experience relief from stress, anxiety, and the effects of trauma.

When working with substance abuse some people may require more than a weekly counselling session in order to achieve sobriety. Please inquire about prices for bespoke packages

My first session

I offer a free initial conversation by phone or zoom, and this is for us to get a sense of one another, some brief information about how I work and how I may be able to help you. If after this, you wish to book in for an initial consultation I usually suggest we meet in person at my premises or arrange a zoom call. This provides us with the opportunity for a more in-depth conversation about what you are hoping to achieve in therapy and create a focus for the work we will embark on together. We may undertake an assessment as part of the process but this really depends on your personal history and if it would feel useful for you. Essentially, our initial sessions will focus on us getting to know each other, building the trust between us, and having a sense of how we will work together.
