About me and my therapy practice
Is life feeling difficult? Do you need to support with problems which are affecting you now, or is there something in your past that is interfering with living the life that you want? It can be hard to talk to family or friends, or it can feel as if there is no-one to talk to.
Challenging experiences such as bereavement, relationship breakdown, illness, bullying or stress affect everyone at some point in their lives. This can leave you feeling overwhelmed, lost, angry, isolated or confused. If you are experiencing any of these issues, or there are other problems troubling you, I may be able to help.
You may want to come to therapy to look at a particular issue – or you may have a more general sense of unease, a feeling your life could be more fulfilling, or a lack of meaning in life.
Counselling and psychotherapy offer a safe place where you can express your feelings and explore your difficulties in a confidential, supportive and non-judgemental setting.
My aim is to work with you to create an environment which can help you understand more about yourself, and support you to make choices that help rather than hinder you in life.
I offer short-term counselling, to address a specific issue, or open-ended therapy, to look at feelings or experiences which feel more complex. I don't make assumptions or judgements, and I know it takes courage to make contact with a therapist.
I have been working as a counsellor and psychotherapist for twenty years. I am Íø±¬ÃÅ Accredited and am also registered as a Clinical Psychotherapist with the UKCP.
Practice description
I have found that therapy can provide enormous support to individuals, and I have experience of seeing clients grow and change, as they find more satisfying ways to live their lives. I offer a confidential space where you can talk about what feels important, challenging or painful.
My approach is relational, based in the humanistic perspective. This means our relationship is central to the therapy - I see our work as a journey we make together, and am committed to supporting you in that process.
I believe people potentially have all the abilities they need to solve their problems or face their difficulties. However, sometimes external or internal events interrupt this process, and it is helpful to have support in looking at what is happening, and explore what options are available.
I pay attention to the 'whole' of you, including thoughts, feelings and body process (e.g. a ‘lump in your throat’ or ‘butterflies in your stomach’). I also share my thoughts and feelings with you, where appropriate, rather than acting solely as a ‘listener’, as this can help us understand what is happening.
In our work I pay attention to the present moment, the ‘here and now’ of what is happening in the therapy room, whilst being mindful that the past can affect what is happening in the present.
Therapy can help you become aware that ways of dealing with problems, which worked in the past, do not work in the present. By raising awareness of how you currently think, feel and respond, you can become aware of alternative possibilities. This allows you more choice about how you live your life.
I can also offer creative ways of working, for instance using art materials, sand tray, photos, or poetry, to fit the needs of each individual.
My first session
If you are interested in therapy with me we will meet for an initial assessment session (50 minutes). This allows you to see who I am and whether my way of working will fit for you. I will also find out more about you and what you need from therapy. If we are both interested in working together we will arrange to meet for further sessions, which may be a fixed number of sessions or open-ended therapy.

Practice description
My approach to supervision
As a supervisor, I aim to create a supportive and inclusive environment, in which you can gain deeper insights and understandings to improve your clinical practice.
Supervision is a relationship which can offer support, and allow you to explore many aspects of yourself and your work. It's a place for you to reflect on any difficulties you may experience and also to celebrate your successes. We will work together collaboratively within clear boundaries to ensure ethical practice while also normalising your experiences and providing encouragement.
I take a relational approach and am mindful of the importance of cultural context, privilege and power dynamics in our work. All aspects of your work are welcome.
I offer supervision in person and online and work with counsellors and psychotherapists.
Looking for a supervisor?
If you are looking for a supervisor I would be happy to talk with you on the phone to see if it will be beneficial for us to work together. If we wish to proceed we can arrange an introductory meeting in the first instance.
