About me and my therapy practice
Thankyou for visiting my profile page.
I do hope you find the support, guidance or counselling that you need at this time.
Counselling Service offer
- Counselling can be life changing.
- It can help resolve and understand a variety of presenting issues.
- Counselling offers a space to reflect.
Collaboratively we agree on a counselling arrangement that promotes;
Self discovery, client led, understanding, aid change and enhance overall wellbeing.
My approach to counselling originates from psychoanalysis, I practice as a psychodynamic counsellor. I've found this method to be highly effective .
Psychodynamic principles and concepts are useful tools to help understand a range of presenting issues and can be offered over a longer and shorter period of time.
I also offer solution focused therapy such as; Cognitive behaviour therapy and Brief psychodynamic counselling.
Experience
I studied at the university of London, Birkbeck college. The course was accredited by the Íø±¬ÃÅ and I was awarded with two degrees;
- Short term psychodynamic counselling and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.
- Psychodynamic counselling and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.
I've provided a counselling service since 2012. I've worked for charitable organisations the NHS and private practice.
I've vast experience working with adult social care and forensic mental health services. I've been fortunate to work with complex presentations and people with varying support needs.
In my earlier year's my interests were in the Arts and media production. I studied in this area and was awarded with a Bachelor of Arts. My earlier and current interest in art's and creativity really informs counselling. Play and creative expression is very much part of my practice.
Practice description
What is psychodynamic counselling and what does it look like in practice?
Sometimes we are not aware of what drives behaviours, relationship difficulties, unhelpful ways of thinking, disorders etc. Psychodynamic counselling will explore the concept of the unconscious and maybe bring this into awareness.
We will spend time talking about your relationships, childhood, traumas and patterns of behaviour.
You will find I listen to you in a different type of way and utilise our relationship to guide and inform our work. Together we will explore and understand you in more depth that will hopefully provide insight to aid change.
My first session
Your first session will be an assessment and opportunity to experience what counselling will feel like. It sets the scene for future work.
Together we can decide what might be helpful for you right now or long term.
