About me and my therapy practice

As a highly qualified and experienced counsellor, alongside my work as a counsellor within the NHS, I offer effective and accessible private counselling infused with compassion and professionalism.

I am an accredited member of the Íø±¬ÃÅ and have a Post Graduate Diploma and Master’s in Counselling and Psychotherapy and a PhD (Doctorate). I also teach postgraduate students and trainee doctors in Mental Health.

I have published internationally in peer reviewed journals on mental health and have qualifications in specific forms of therapy including, Person Centred Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy and Acceptance Commitment Therapy.

At the end of 2020 I was awarded the British Empire Medal by Queen Elizabeth for services in supporting the NHS staff during the Covid pandemic. 

Practice description

As a therapist I work in an integrative way. Taking a holistic and flexible perspective, I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches that I have been trained in. The approach we use will be tailored to your specific needs and goals.

I am experienced in working with individuals impacted by a range of conditions, including Anxiety, Depression, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Bereavement and Loss, Self-harm and Abuse.

My first session

Within our first session I will aim to understand the reasons you are seeking counselling, with empathy and compassion, seeking to grasp what it feels like to be you. I will begin by helping you to identify the roots of your distress and explore factors that are sustaining these emotions.

Towards the end of our first session, we will discuss if you feel I am the right person to support you.
