Availability
I currently have limited availability for new clients and offer both in-person sessions in Croydon and online sessions via Zoom.
I typically see clients Monday to Thursday, with morning and daytime slots available. All sessions are 50 minutes and held at the same time each week.
If I don’t have space when you get in touch, I’m happy to let you know when a slot may become available or to recommend trusted colleagues if you prefer not to wait.
I take standard breaks at Easter, during August, and over the Christmas period. These breaks are planned in advance and we would always discuss them together in good time.
If you’re considering starting therapy and feel drawn to the way I work, you’re very welcome to reach out — even if you’re not yet sure about the timing.
About me and my therapy practice
I offer a calm, reflective space to help you make sense of how you feel — especially when talking doesn’t come easily.
Many of the people I work with have spent years pushing down emotions, staying busy, or holding it all together for others. Over time, this can lead to a sense of stuckness, emotional overwhelm, or even burnout. You might find yourself reacting in ways you don’t fully understand — or feeling disconnected from what you do feel.
In therapy, we gently explore what’s going on beneath the surface. I listen closely to what you bring, and together we begin to trace patterns, untangle contradictions, and find language for what might have felt wordless until now.
My approach is psychodynamic, which means I’m interested in how early experiences shape your present life — particularly in relationships, self-esteem, and emotional expression. I also pay close attention to what unfolds between us in the room, as this often sheds light on deeper dynamics.
Some clients come with a clear sense of what they want to work on. Others arrive simply knowing that something isn’t right. Both are welcome.
Practice description
Talk to Luke is a private therapy practice based in Croydon, offering in-person and online sessions for adults who want to understand themselves more deeply.
I work with people who are often seen as capable, thoughtful, or independent — but who struggle with their emotions behind the scenes. Some feel numb or disconnected; others feel overwhelmed or ashamed of how reactive they can be.
In our work together, we explore what sits beneath these struggles. We pay attention to patterns in your life and relationships, and how these may link back to early experiences. This isn’t about blame or diagnosis — but about understanding your inner world in a more compassionate and coherent way.
I see therapy as a space where things can slowly shift — not through advice or quick fixes, but through insight, honesty, and the safety to feel what hasn’t yet been felt.
My approach is grounded in psychodynamic thinking, which means I’m curious about unconscious processes and how the past can shape the present. I also bring a warm, attuned presence and a genuine interest in what it’s like to be you.
Sessions take place in a quiet, dedicated space in Croydon, or online for those further afield. I currently offer once-weekly therapy on an open-ended basis.
My first session
The first session is a chance for us to get a feel for working together.
There’s no pressure to commit to ongoing therapy at this stage — instead, we use the time to talk about what’s brought you to therapy, what you’re hoping for, and whether what I offer feels like a good fit for you.
You’re welcome to ask any questions about the process, and I’ll ask a few gentle ones to get a sense of your story. Some people come ready to open up; others might feel more unsure or guarded. However you arrive, we’ll go at your pace.
If, after the session, we both feel that it makes sense to continue, we’ll arrange a regular weekly time to meet. I work on an open-ended basis, meaning there’s no fixed number of sessions — we keep the conversation going as long as it feels helpful.
The first session lasts 50 minutes and is charged at my standard fee. I’ll send over some brief details in advance, including where to find me (if we’re meeting in person) or how to join the session online.
