Availability
I currently have limited availability for new clients. I work Tuesday to Thursday, with morning and daytime sessions available.
If you're drawn to this way of working but I don't have immediate space, I'm happy to let you know when something becomes available. Finding the right therapeutic fit matters - take time to consider whether my approach resonates with what you're looking for.
I take breaks at Easter, August, and Christmas. These are planned well in advance and we always discuss them together.
About me and my therapy practice
You've learned to be indispensable to everyone but yourself.
The competent one. The reliable one. The one who sorts things out while your own life quietly unravels in private. You know exactly how to comfort others but sit alone with feelings you can't name. You give advice you can't follow. You fix problems for everyone except the person in the mirror.
I work with people whose coping strategies have become cages.
My clients often appear successful - good jobs, stable relationships, all the markers of adult achievement. But there's this persistent sense that you're fraudulent somehow. That if people could see past your competence to the chaos underneath, they'd leave. So you keep managing, keep achieving, keep proving you're worth the space you take up.
Perhaps you're exhausted from monitoring yourself in every interaction. Maybe you've noticed you can predict exactly what others need but have no idea what you want. You might be the one who apologises reflexively, who shrinks to fit, who's forgotten that relationships can exist without you constantly earning your place in them.
My approach is psychodynamic, which means we look at what drives the patterns rather than just managing the symptoms. We explore what you learned about survival that's now suffocating you. We examine the rules you follow that nobody actually set.
This isn't about strategies or solutions. It's about understanding what your symptoms are protecting you from knowing, and developing the capacity to tolerate what you've been avoiding.
Practice description
I offer a consistent space where the performance can stop and the real work can begin.
The people I work best with have often spent decades being exactly who others needed. You've become fluent in everyone else's emotional language while losing touch with your own. You know how to be useful but not how to be real.
If you're exhausted from being everyone's anchor while you're drowning, if you want to understand why comfort feels dangerous and conflict feels safe, we might work well together.
This work asks something of you. It asks you to stay present when you want to deflect, to feel things you've spent years thinking about instead. I won't rescue you from difficult feelings or pretend things are simpler than they are. I'll sit with you while you discover what's actually there when you stop editing yourself.
Sessions are weekly, 50 minutes, in Croydon or online. We begin with whatever's happening - the crisis, the numbness, the thing you do that makes no sense but you can't stop doing. The repetitions that embarrass you. The needs you pretend not to have.
I'm interested in why your defences make perfect sense, what they've protected you from, and what they cost you now. This isn't about breaking them down but understanding what life might look like if you didn't need them running at full capacity all the time.
Psychodynamic therapy doesn't promise comfort - it offers clarity. We explore the gap between who you learned to be and who you might become if you weren't so invested in staying acceptable.
My first session
The first session is a mutual exploration - can we work together in a way that feels productive rather than just comfortable?
You don't need to arrive with a clear problem or the right vocabulary. Most people come knowing only that their usual ways aren't working anymore. That the competence is exhausting. That something needs to change but they don't know what or how.
Some people arrive ready to excavate everything immediately. Others need months to trust that judgment isn't coming. Some talk fluently about their feelings but never feel them. Others feel everything but can't find words. We work with whatever you bring, however you bring it.
The session isn't about impressing me with your insight or proving you deserve help. It's about whether this particular space, with this particular therapist, feels like somewhere you could risk being seen without the usual polish.
If we decide to work together, we'll establish a regular weekly time. The work is open-ended - no predetermined timeline, no checklist of achievements. Just a commitment to keep showing up and seeing what emerges when you stop curating yourself.
The first session is 50 minutes at my standard fee. Come as you are, not as you think you should be.
