I am currently available on Thursdays 8.45 am – 7.45 pm online. I'm based in Crediton but working online means that I can work with you wherever you are.About me and my therapy practice
Welcome - my name’s Jenny and I’m a practicing counsellor with 18 years of therapeutic experience. I also provide supervision for counsellors.
My counselling experience has included working for the NHS, Plymouth Racial Equality Centre, and Twelves Company Plymouth. I am particularly experienced in working with common mental health problems and adult survivors of sexual abuse and trauma. In addition, I have worked through an interpreter with those for whom English is not their first language. I also lived in Nepal for ten years where I helped to set up a counselling department and provided counselling to ex-pats. Some of this included longer term work both online and in person. I also supervised and trained Nepali counsellors.
I am trained and experienced in giving Pastoral Care and Spiritual Direction.
I follow Íø±¬ÃÅ’s Ethical Framework and keep the wellbeing and safety of all clients at the core of my practice. As a qualified teacher I am passionate about learning as well as counselling. I keep up to date with my professional development - counselling skills and theory - and I have a masters in counselling and psychotherapy practice. This included research into online therapy and supervision. I have regular supervision and am fully insured.
Practice description
My first priority is to create a space for you that immediately feels welcoming and safe. This space is non-judgemental, confidential and one where you feel listened to with compassion. You may be going through difficulties that are hard to overcome. Counselling gives you tools you can use to help gain a better understanding of what’s causing these problems - and how you can resolve them. It is through our therapeutic relationship that you can understand and value yourself more and experience personal growth.
As a Íø±¬ÃÅ accredited counsellor I use my professional expertise, knowledge, insight and genuineness to help you towards effective coping and positive change.
I usually work with people on a weekly basis but would discuss with you what would be best for you. Each of our sessions would be one hour long (or less if that is your preference).
You may find that just a few weeks of counselling is sufficient. However, it may take longer to explore and process your experiences - there is no 'one size fits all' - everyone is unique.
Client feedback
'Jenny provided a safe, listening and kind space where I could unpack my story and find healing and more wholeness....My time with her has made a big different in my life and helped me to grow beyond previous hurts and traumas I had experienced in my life.' J.G
