About me and my therapy practice
Hello, and welcome to my profile.
Looking at this means you’ve taken the first step – well done! In a supportive and non-judgemental space our work will be a joint undertaking to enable you gradually to make discoveries about yourself. With these you may choose to make changes to your thoughts, feelings and actions.
Perhaps you’re stuck in a rut, live in a world where the same things keep happening to you or life feels generally difficult. Perhaps you know (or think you know) why you’re struggling but find it difficult to see a positive way forward. Perhaps you’re feeling anxious, sad, lost or depressed.
As an integrative therapist, with a person-centred approach, I will support you as we delve into your thoughts, feelings, responses and actions.
My approach is to be gentle, to be firm, to be quiet, to question; the work between us is a joint undertaking to enable you to make discoveries about yourself. A better understanding of ourselves, our emotions and our triggers, can be both liberating and empowering. I can help you know yourself properly. And with this knowledge you can choose to make changes to your thoughts, feelings and actions.
The most productive therapy is built on trust, and I will do what I can to help you trust in me and our working relationship. Therapy can be uncomfortable, but I will support you as you navigate your discoveries and consider how to embrace life ahead, so it is meaningful and fulfilling.
I see clients with a range of circumstances. My particular interest is those with caring responsibilities – whether that’s for a child, partner, friend or parent.
I see individual clients and couples.
If you think I may be a good fit for you, do get in touch. I'll look forward to hearing from you.
Practice description
What to expect:
I offer both on-line and in-person sessions.
In person sessions take place in my home office on a residential road, 20 minutes’ walk from Bath city centre, or a 10-minute walk from Morrison’s which has 3 hours’ free parking. There are steps up to my front door and my office is on the first floor, up a flight of stairs. As personal safety is paramount for both client and therapist, we will have a telephone call prior to arranging a first in-person meeting.
I offer an initial, no obligation session of 30 minutes, free of charge. This is to help us both consider if we are a good match.
Starting therapy can feel daunting so it is very important you feel comfortable, and I will do what I can to put you at ease. In the early days, weekly therapy is most beneficial, however if you feel I’m not the right therapist for you, you are free to stop at any point.
Very early sessions will allow you to bring what is troubling you – to let go. The constructive phase of our work will involve taking a ‘history’. This is essential – so much of how we manage life is based on behaviours formed in our early years, or to manage difficult periods in our lives. These may have served us well then but, as we may discover, are unhelpful now.
We will explore your expectations of therapy and what you’d like to achieve. We’ll review our work after a set number of sessions (normally 6). Therapy can be short, medium or long term. Reviews are not necessarily indicative of where we are in our work, but to ensure we’re on track.
