Availability
I work Monday-Friday, with my latest appointment being 6.30pm. I currently have some limited availability to see child and adolescent clients during after-school hours. I have good availability to see new child and adolescent clients and their parents/carers during the working day.
About me and my therapy practice
I am a highly experienced UKCP-Registered, Íø±¬ÃÅ Accredited Integrative Child Psychotherapist. I have been working therapeutically with children and adolescents (including young adults) and their parents and carers since 2005.
I have CAMHS experience (including working for a specialist service with children in care) and have worked in primary and secondary schools.
Since 2011, I have also been a Clinical Supervisor, supporting qualified and trainee Counsellors and Psychotherapists working with children and adolescents.
Practice description
There are times when children and young people run into difficulties that are not easily sorted out especially if not dealt with at an early stage. Having some help at the right time can make all the difference.
Issues that therapy can help with include: anxiety, school stress, relationship difficulties, questions about gender identity or sexuality, worries related to neurodivergence, effects of trauma (including developmental trauma), unhappiness and depression, low self-esteem, distress related to family upset and bereavement, coping with illness or health problems, lack of confidence.
Therapy provides a safe space to explore issues that might be troubling someone. The relationship between the therapist and the client is at the heart of this process. I use various ways of working with children or young people: play, art, drama, music, sand tray and talking. These offer a variety of ways of expressing thoughts, worries, feelings and of working with them. The aim is to help children or young people to find their own solutions and ways of coping with their situation.
After a period of assessment, which usually involves meeting a child or young person’s parent or carer, I will typically meet with a child or young person for 50 minutes once a week. I generally work without a fixed time limit but with regular reviews as to whether the therapy is being helpful.
My first session
For younger clients (under 17 years' old), the first session will usually be a meeting with their parent or carer. This allows me to find out about their concerns, about the child or young person's history and about their family and for us to explore whether therapy might be helpful or if another intervention would be more effective.
Sometimes I will work directly with the parent/carer rather than offering therapy to a child or young person. I may do this because a parenting intervention will be more effective than therapy (e.g. if the child is very young) or if the child or young person does not wish to have therapy.
My initial session with a child or young person is low-key. The main thing is that they get to experience what it's like to talk to me and to decide whether I am the right therapist for them. If they are happy to continue with sessions, we will schedule a review for the fifth or sixth session.

About me and my therapy practice
I'm a highly experienced Clinical Supervisor for counsellors and therapists working with children and young people.
I am a UKCP-registered Integrative Child Psychotherapist and Íø±¬ÃÅ-accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist and have been supervising both trainee and qualified counsellors and therapists since 2011.
I have worked in both primary and secondary schools, in CAMHS (including a specialist service working with Children in Care) and in private practice. I have lots of experience to share.
I can offer face-to-face supervision or online supervision using Zoom.
My first session
I would encourage potential supervisees to arrange a short call with me (at no cost) to explore what they are looking for in a supervisor and whether we can work together. Following this, I would suggest we arrange an initial 'trial' supervision hour, which they would pay for. This hour allows them to experience what it is like to have supervision with me before they commit to arranging regular supervision sessions.
Clients I work with
Adults, Trainees
