About me and my therapy practice
About Me and My Approach
I’m a fully qualified therapist with over 19 years of experience, and an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (Íø±¬ÃÅ). I offer a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where you can explore whatever challenges you’re facing.
My work spans a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, and family conflict. I’ve worked in various settings including the NHS (facilitating CBT-based workshops), youth counselling (YMCA), sexual trauma services (SARC), and with those bereaved by suicide (Survivors of Suicide). I also work as a family mediator, helping young people and their families navigate conflict and communication issues.
I have lived and worked in various countries, bringing a culturally sensitive approach to therapy that respects your unique background and experience.
In addition to talking therapy, I specialise in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), a robust and evidence-based approach for treating trauma and distressing life experiences. EMDR is recognised by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and NICE for its effectiveness in trauma recovery.
Practice description
Sessions are weekly.
My first session
In your first session, we’ll take the time to get to know each other and discuss what has brought you to therapy. This is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions about my approach and how therapy can support you. I’ll explain how we will work together, and we’ll begin by discussing your goals for therapy.
I use the CORE-34 assessment tool during the first session and periodically throughout our work together. This brief, confidential questionnaire helps measure your emotional well-being and tracks changes over time. It provides us with a clear picture of your current distress level and helps us monitor your progress so we can adjust the therapy if needed. The CORE-34 is widely used in therapy settings and is a helpful way to ensure that the support you receive is tailored to your needs.
The first session is also a time for you to get a feel for the therapy process, and I’ll make sure you’re comfortable with the approach. Whether you choose in-person or online sessions, the goal is to provide a supportive and confidential space where you can start working toward positive change at your own pace.
