About me and my therapy practice
I am an experienced, psychodynamic counsellor and clinical supervisor. I work with adults of all ages. In the past I have worked with clients in a variety of settings, including the NHS, schools and the voluntary sector.
Working in a psychodynamic way means that my aim isn't just to help you to feel better, but to empower you by helping you to understand and make sense of your relationships, identify patterns of behaviour, and be able to express feelings and emotions which may have been buried for a long time. We can鈥檛 change the past, but we can find hope for the future by understanding and reframing past events.
Although long-term psychotherapy is my main way of working, I also offer a slightly more structured and time-limited therapy called Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy or 鈥淒IT鈥 which lasts for 16 weeks.
In my experience, people come to therapy for all sorts of reasons, but loss is often a common thread. This might be the loss of a person, a relationship, a job or a much-loved pet. Or it could be the loss of something more ambiguous 鈥 a sense of identity or belonging, or even just a vague sense that something is missing. It could also be the loss of something yearned for, but which never happened, such as the pain of miscarriage or the inability to conceive a longed-for child.
Whatever you are struggling with, I invite you to get in touch and book a free session without any obligation to continue. Starting therapy can be daunting and it鈥檚 important to find the therapist who is right for you.

Practice description
Working online as well as face to face means that I am able to accept clients from throughout Scotland and the UK. I also see clients face-to-face in Leith and Burntisland.
My first session
What can you expect your first session to be like? After greeting you, there will be time for us to start to get to know one another and to see if we are a good "fit". The relationship between therapist and client is the most important factor in ensuring therapy works, so it is important to choose the counsellor who is right for you.
I use the first session (which is free of charge) to assess where you currently are emotionally and to find out about what has brought you to counselling and whether I feel I can help. I won't ask you to commit to ongoing sessions straightway, unless you are ready to do so.
What I can help with
Anxiety, Bereavement, Child related issues, Depression, Disability, Eating disorders, Health related issues, Identity issues, Infertility, Loss, Post-traumatic stress, Pregnancy related issues, Relationships, Self esteem, Sensory impairment, Spirituality

I offer weekday daytime and evening face to face supervision in Leith and Burntisland as well as daytime and evening online sessions.
About me and my therapy practice
I am a fully qualified Clinical Supervisor and hold a Level 6 Advance Certificate in Clinical Supervision including face to face, online and telephone working. I offer affordable supervision to both qualified and trainee practitioners,
My approach is relational and supportive. I see supervision as a colleague-to-colleague activity in which therapist and supervisor work together in the best interest of the client. If you work with clients online, then it is best practice to receive all or most of your supervision the same way.
I have trained specifically as an Online Supervisor, to take account of phenomena such the 鈥楧isinhibition Effect鈥 and 鈥媡he 鈥楤lack Hole Effect鈥, which exist in the online world, but which are not encountered in face to face work. I am an experienced psychodynamic counsellor, registered with and accredited by the 网爆门. 鈥婱y background includes 鈥嬧媠everal years鈥 experience of working as a tutor, training counselling students.鈥
I work psychodynamically within an integrative framework, using the 7-eyed model of supervision and 鈥婭 welcome 鈥嬧媠upervisees of all modalities.
If you are looking for a new supervisor and are interested in seeing if we are a good fit, contact me today to book a free initial one-hour consultation.
