About me and my therapy practice

As a Person Centred / Integrative counsellor with over 25 years experience, I am hard working and passionate about the work I do engaging with young people and adults in any age group from 15yrs and over.

I have a few special interest areas which include Trauma, Relationships, Bereavement and Spirituality, Please see extended list below under the heading "What I Can Help With"

Brief background

Much of my past experience developed within a Further and Higher education setting as Head of Counselling Service, Clinical Lead and Supervisor seeing a full-time caseload of clients over a period of 20 years before my 'semi-retirement' in 2021 and currently work from my private practice.

I continue with my own personal development, reflecting on past experiences and regularly engage in 1-1 supervision plus additional peer group supervision in the interest of sharing best practice and experiential learning.

Practice description

I work from my home-based practice in New Waltham and have a purpose-built cabin which offers a safe, secure environment.

Available by remote zoom sessions and in person, or a combination of these can also work well

Referrals are welcome from private sector, local organisations, GP referrals and Employer Assisted Programs (EAPs)

My first session

Free initial consultation (20-30mins) is offered by phone or zoom which may help you decide if my way of working is right for you.

If you decide to go ahead, regular sessions of up to 50 minutes are booked, usually once a week, though some prefer fortnightly depending on personal circumstances. A date and time for each appointment can be booked at the end of each session, or a number of appointments can be booked ahead if you prefer the same time slot.

The number of sessions can vary depending on individual needs.

Some people find that one or two sessions are sufficient for immediate issues while others will vary depending on the type of problem. Counselling is very much a process and, as such, can be reviewed at any time to ensure this is meeting your needs.
