About me and my therapy practice

I have been providing counselling to adults for over 10 years now. I spent my training years working for a domestic abuse charity. The two modalities I integrate into my practice are the Person Centred Approach (PCA) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

I am a member of BICA (British Infertility Counselling Association). My particular areas of interest are domestic abuse and fertility.

As a member of Íø±¬ÃÅ, I take my commitment to providing ethical practice seriously. Mental health is so important - it is worth investing in and equally as important is finding a counsellor who you think is a good fit for you.

Practice description

I am an integrative counsellor- this means I work from a person centred foundation which I think is important to building hopefully a honest and genuine relationship. If CBT is something you are interested in or specifically looking for then we can tailor our work accordingly.

I have many years experience of working with survivors of domestic abuse which included physical, emotional (psychological), sexual and financial abuse. In addition, I have experience of working with trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, separation, parental alienation, egg donation and fertility.

I am able to offer student rates plus concessionary rates to individuals about to undergo or undergoing fertility treatment, especially those with a history of domestic abuse.

I can offer sessions either online (Zoom) or face-to-face close to Chelmsford City centre in Essex.

About me and my therapy practice

In my role as a clinical supervisor, I integrate what's sometimes referred to as the functions model and the seven-eyed model. I'm happy to work creatively which I know is something supervisees appreciate. I work with a lot of my supervisees online which suits our needs and I enjoy working face-to-face from premises in Chelmsford, Essex.

You can expect a supervisor who promotes integrity, curiosity, creativity and who will work with you to get the best of the supervisory relationship.

I've worked with supervisees across the UK and Scotland and generally work with supervisees online. I have experience of working with supervisees who consider themselves neurodiverse. I have experience of working with supervisees in their EAP work, charity work and private practice.

My supervision style will vary depending on your goals for supervision but my aim is to work in a collaborative way rather than me adopting a prescriptive way of working which could impact your autonomy.

Practice description

You can expect a supervisor who promotes integrity, curiosity, creativity and who will work with you to get the best of the supervisory relationship.

You can also expect a supervisor who demonstrates their humanity and may not always (but will try to) get it right. I work in a person-centred way for the most part and will work with you to build you up as a practitioner rather than knock you down.

I try my best to demonstrate an anti-oppressive stance and acknowledge my white-ness and the privileges I have been afforded because of it.

My first session

The first session will be spent exploring how we both work and what we both expect from one another in order that we can decide if we think we might be able to work with each other potentially on a long term basis. For example, I will ask some open questions to gather information about your clinical practice to understand what you are looking for in a supervisor and whether I think I 'fit the bill'.
