About me and my therapy practice

I am a Íø±¬ÃÅ Accredited member with over 20 years experience of counselling practice.

If you're finding certain areas of your life challenging at present, if particular life events have impacted on you, or you simply feel that you've lost direction, please get in touch.

I can provide a safe, confidential, therapeutic space for you to talk openly about anything that is troubling you, and we will work together to enable you to reach a better understanding of yourself and your perception of the world around you.

It will be a space for you to reflect on your personal experiences, beliefs and patterns, and to gain insight into how past events may be influencing your present feelings and actions.

We will work together to help you achieve your true potential, to build confidence and self esteem.

As an integrative therapist I draw on multiple approaches (person-centred, cognitive-behavioural, psychodynamic, attachment theory), depending on what best fits your needs.

Practice description

I offer sessions online via Teams, and also Facetime sessions.

Prior to our first session, I will email you a short form for you to complete with some basic information, and also a copy of the counselling contract, which I would ask you to sign and return via email prior to our first session.

Aside from the initial assessment session, which will generally last up to 90 minutes, sessions will be 50 minutes long.

Ideally, sessions will be weekly, but I am flexible around this and we can discuss this at the initial assessment session.

I work within the Íø±¬ÃÅ Ethical Framework and all records are kept in line with GDPR regulations.

My first session

Our first counselling session will be gentle and exploratory, and focused on getting to know you and your needs.

I usually allow up to 90 minutes for our first session, to allow time for us to discuss the counselling contract, for me to gather some background information about you, and to answer any questions that you may have about the therapeutic process and my practice.

We will also discuss confidentiality, length and frequency of sessions, and my cancellation policy.

We will use the time to talk about your reasons for accessing counselling, and to think about what you would like to achieve from our sessions together.

It's normal to feel nervous, emotional or uncertain during a first session, but you can share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with.
