About me and my therapy practice

There are many reasons people seek counselling, and each one matters. As a practitioner with lived experience, I believe that our shared humanity forms the foundation of meaningful therapeutic work.

My role is to support you in moving from a place of suffering, fear, anxiety, uncertainty, disconnection, or overwhelm toward greater stability, presence, and connection in your life.

I offer a safe, non-judgemental space where you can pause, be heard, and explore what needs attention. Rather than positioning myself as the expert on you, I facilitate a collaborative process that helps you draw on your own inner resources to heal, grow, and move forward with greater confidence and clarity.

I have worked in mental health settings for over 15 years. Alongside my private counselling practice, I co-founded Coastal Wellbeing and understand both the joys and challenges of working for yourself. As a group facilitator, I have worked extensively in the community and voluntary sectors, providing wellbeing support in areas such as mental health, addiction recovery, and caring. I also co-facilitate reflective practice sessions for staff working in suicide prevention and response, helping teams navigate the emotional demands of their roles.

Practice description

I have experience working with teens, young adults, and adults from all walks of life, and I am a trauma-informed practitioner. Following my qualification, I have undertaken extensive training in complex trauma and PTSD, and I engage in ongoing weekly training and consultation with Carolyn Spring within her Trauma Recovery Community.

I offer warmth, compassion, honesty, and a safe, non-judgemental space where you can explore whatever you choose to bring to our sessions. My approach covers a wide range of life challenges, and together we can build a trusting, confidential therapeutic relationship in which healing and change can take place.

My first session

Our work together begins with an introductory session, providing the opportunity for us to meet, discuss what has brought you to counselling, and explore what you hope to gain from the process. This session is a full, paid 50-minute appointment, although a shorter version can be arranged where appropriate. Following this initial meeting, you can decide whether you would like to continue with further sessions.

Sessions can take place either online or face to face, depending on your preference and availability.

I am also a member of the LGBTQ+ community and work from an inclusive, affirmative, and trauma-informed perspective. My practice is Gender, Sexual, and Relationship Diversity (GSRD) and neurodiversity affirming, offering a space where all aspects of identity are respected and valued.

If you are interested in working one-to-one using the Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) as a model to support your self-management and wellbeing, please feel free to contact me for more information or visit my website.

I am primarily based in Newhaven and can also offer sessions in Lewes.
