Practice description
INVESTING YOUR TIME WITH ME - what can I offer you?
Not only am I very experienced but I'm also highly qualified.
BSC HONS PSYCHOLOGY
My Psychotherapeutic post graduate training is underpinned by a First Class HONS Degree in Psychology. Psychology is the study of the mind and behaviour. As an identical twin I have had a lifelong fascination with what makes us the same but different. The knowledge I have gained from this degree enables me to underpin our work together with a deep understanding of psychological processes e.g. Child Development, Attachment Theories, Neuroscience, Neurobiology, Somatic experiences, Cognitive and Developmental Psychology, Trauma and Memory Systems, further helping me to understand the struggles life can bring us. This helps me to tailor my work to the individual.
Having a deep understanding of how our experiences impact the brain and nervous system, I am able to help you understand and regulate your physical and mental health needs; providing you with a life long investment in your physical and mental wellbeing.
I have a wealth of experience working short and long term with a wide range of problems e.g. anxiety, depression, relationship issues, bereavement and trauma, in a variety of settings.
Couples
Specialist training in Couples Counselling at the Leeds Centre for Psychological development has enabled me to understand the difficulties some couples encounter in their relating. I work with couples that are distressed, discouraged and disconnected. Together, we can explore your relationship history and begin to piece together the reasons that the emotional and physical intimacy began to decline; whether that leads to helping to rebuild an empathic, fulfilling and connected relationship; or to a pathway of separation.

Practice description
As an Approved Clinical Supervisor for Leeds Beckett University I offer Supervision to students throughout their Counselling & Psychotherapy training and beyond. I am committed to monitoring my own supervisory practice and ongoing self development.
As a member of a Supervisors Forum I attend ongoing training.
Current training courses:
Embodied Prescence, listening and use of facilitative questions in Supervision: Facilitated by Professor Divine Charura
The Impact of Supervising other Therapy Modalities on our Supervisory Style and Approach: Facilitated by Dr Yvonne Waft
SUPPORTING YOU: My Supervision style
My Supervisory training is primarily based upon the Hawkins and Shohet Seven Eyed Model. The Relational aspect of this model sits comfortably alongside my training as a Relational Psychotherapist. The model has its focus on the relationship between client, therapist and supervisor noting the interplay between each relationship and their context within a wider system. Therefore, providing a framework to explore the dynamics appearing within the supervisory process from multiple viewpoints.
My Supervisory roles and responsibilities
As a supervisor I aim to create a reflexive, curious and containing space that enables supervisees to explore all aspects of their client work and the impact upon self
- My aim is to encourage the development of therapeutic confidence; building skills, knowledge, self awareness and judgment within a co created, intersubjective supervisor relationship
- By monitoring ethical and professional practice I aim to safeguard both client and counsellor; ensuring therapists work effectively, safely and as ethically as possible with clients
- I further monitor my own supervisory practice, attending regular supervision and am committed to my ongoing personal self development, further promoting and developing mechanisms for self care
