About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I'm Rachel, a qualified and accredited counsellor with over 16 years' counselling experience, including 10 years providing wellbeing support and counselling to young adults in a university setting, being there for young adults through some of the most challenging and exciting years of their lives.
It can be overwhelming to be in your late teens / early 20s, juggling studies or early career pressures, navigating relationships, managing anxiety and trying to work out who you are and where you're going. I've worked with hundreds of students and young adults facing these same questions.
My approach is down to earth, collaborative, and focused on what works for you.
I draw on Solution Focused Therapy, alongside other evidence-based approaches to help you to make progress, without months of feeling stuck in the past. This means that we will work together to build on your strengths, set clear goals and find practical steps forward, whilst still making space for the emotions and challenges you are carrying.
Outside of my work, I am a believer in being genuine and honest, finding humour in life's messiness and celebrating small wins along the way, and I bring that same energy into my sessions.
Therapy with me is a space where you can be yourself, feel understood, and know you're not going through it alone.
Practice description
I specialise in working with young adults (18-30) who are navigating anxiety, uncertainty, identity and big life transitions.
Whether you are studying, starting a career or finding your place in the world, therapy offers a supportive and affirming space to pause, reflect and move forward with more confidence.
I can offer a one-off 90-minute Single Session therapy, short-term focused counselling or ongoing counselling sessions - we can tailor this to your needs.
My approach is collaborative, encouraging and solution focused, helping you to build strengths whilst making sense of what is holding you back.
My first session
Taking the first step into counselling can feel scary and uncertain. There are so many counsellor bios to look through and it's hard to know who is the right fit for you.
I aim to make the process as simple and comfortable as possible.
Free 15-minute Chat
I offer a free 15-minute chat so you can ask questions and get a feel for how I work before deciding if therapy with me is the right fit for you.
First Session
Your first counselling session is a chance for us to meet, talk through what's brought you here and explore what you'd like to get out of therapy.
We'll talk about what you'd like to focus on, what you hope to get from our work together, and I'll answer any questions you may have about the process. I'll also explain how confidentiality works and outline practical details like payment and scheduling.
It's normal to feel nervous, so we'll go at your pace. By the end of the session, we'll decide together on the next steps, whether that's booking further sessions, trying a single session approach, or simply taking some time to reflect and see how you feel.
For an initial counselling appointment, this can be arranged as:
- Standard first counselling session (50-minutes) - £60
A chance to get to know each other, talk about what's brought you here and explore what you'd like from therapy. We'll go at your pace, and by the end we can decide together whether ongoing sessions feel right for you.
- Single Session (90-minutes) with resources included - £110.
You may prefer to book a one-off, focused appointment where we work deeply on a specific issue. You'll have more time to explore your experiences and leave with strategies and insights tailored to you, with the option to return if you'd like more sessions.
We can discuss which appointment might work best for you during your free 15-minute chat.
Counselling Appointments
Counselling appointments thereafter can be booked and paid for as you go, or in a block of 4 with a saving of £10 per session.
