Availability

I am currently available to take on new clients and am not intending to take any extended breaks in the near future. If you are available during the daytime it should be relatively easy to find a time which works for you, but if you prefer late afternoon or evening I am working on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

About me and my therapy practice

I am Íø±¬ÃÅ accredited and work with individuals and couples. I love my work and I thank you for reading my profile. My specialist areas are childhood trauma and abuse, bereavement and relationships but I support people suffering with many other issues such as anxiety, depression, anger, obsessive thoughts, suicidal feelings and symptoms of trauma such as flashbacks and dissociation.

I believe relationships play an important part in emotional and mental wellbeing and trained with Relate in order to work with couples who need to work through their issues in a safe place.

I have been supporting survivors of childhood abuse for many years but abuse can also be emotional, physical or relational and neglect is a form of abuse which tends to be under the radar.  Unfortunately, abuse is traumatising at any age and I also support people who have experienced abusive relationships (which includes bullying, coercive control and being ignored) and sexual abuse and violence as an adult.

I trained as a bereavement counsellor with a national charity which supports people who have experienced many types of bereavement.  A complicated or unresolved bereavement can make it hard to grieve, particularly when a child suffers the death of a parent, but the death of anybody close can be devastating at any age, especially the death of a child (or unborn child), sudden death and bereavement by suicide, all of which can be life-changing.

I am currently working online only but I can do home visits if you are in my part of the world. This can be particularly helpful for couples with small children or anybody with mobility issues.

If you would like to know more please see my website jeanyoungcounselling.co.uk, call me or send a text or email.  Whatever you are going through right now, you don't need to suffer alone and I look forward to hearing from you.

Practice description

In terms of fees, my rate for individuals is £60 and for couples it is £75. I do not increase my fees for existing clients so you will not have to pay any more.

My first session

My way of working is flexible and my focus will be on empowering you to decide what you want from the therapy and making your own decisions. I am not the kind of therapist who gives homework, but I might give you some ideas about how you can process what comes up for you between sessions.  It will be a two-way process so I will always be open to hearing your feedback.
