About me and my therapy practice

A warm welcome, my name is Lisa.

I am a Person Centred Counsellor and Psychotherapist. Having been in practise since 2006 I can offer experience, professionalism and insight having worked in variety of settings both privately and in the Third sector.

My therapeutic  practise is in 2 Leeds locations and I work with Adults and Young people from the age of 11 upwards, this can be offered Face to Face, Online and  via Telephone

It has been my privilege to work for multiple Adult and Young peoples charities: The Market Place Leeds, Re-establish, Step2 Bradford, alongside GASPED, Samaritans and Safe Zone (crisis service for young people), this has included extensive Bereavement, Crisis, Creative and Parent/family work.

Alongside the Therapeutic world I have worked in the corporate world of Insurance and Marketing and I have a BA Hons in Journalism (with a Marketing background) I understand those different pressures that work can bring.

In keeping with my background of journalism, it was my great honour to become a published author in the 2023 book; "People not Pathology: Freeing Therapy from the Medical Model" writing the chapter on demedicalised Counselling services.

My therapeutic work is Trauma Informed, I accept you for the person who you are, whilst respecting your right to choose and have your own autonomy.

"It's not about what's wrong with you, but what has happened to you?" Eleanor/Longden/Jacqui Dillon

My work is often hearing those all important stories, that can be told as many times as they need to be, without judgement, helping squash the power they often have over us.

Practice description

You can expect a warm compassionate space to feel welcomed and that the possibilities of therapy can bring about those all important changes in your life.

I have additional training in working with the LGBTQI+ Community and Neurodiversity and have worked with many clients from multi- cultural backgrounds.

My aim is to work with you collaboratively and in accordance to your needs and aims within therapy. This may be on a long term basis or an agreed number of sessions, this can always be reviewed regularly.

I firmly believe in the person centred ethos of us being the experts of ourselves, however sometimes due to life experience, trauma, or upbringing this has somehow been lost. I am here to cultivate that potential that has temporarily disappeared.

Due to working in young peoples services I have a vast amount of experience in working creatively which can often unlock hidden depth and a experiential way of being. This creativity can also overflow into my work with Adult clients as feelings and emotions can be processed in many unique ways.

If there are any further questions or queries you may have, please don't hesitate to contact me.

My first session

To help you decide whether we are a good fit for one another, I offer a *Free* 20/30min telephone discussion prior to our first session.

This is a chance for you to ask any questions that you may have and an opportunity to discuss any focuses or aims that you may have for your therapy.

If you have never had therapy before, this prior discussion may help to dispel any worries or concerns that you have, or simply provide a chance to get a feel for who it is your talking to.

If you decide to go ahead I will send a Counselling Agreement to you and we can talk through anything that stands out or that you may be unsure of.
