I offer sessions Mon-Thurs, 9.30-19.00. I currently have availability. I also offer Zoom, FaceTime and Phone sessions as well as face to face sessions, plus couples, family and group sessions
About me and my therapy practice
I am an integrative counsellor: I take elements of therapeutic approaches that best suit the individual and the individual’s need and preferred way of working. I work in a predominantly person-centred way (that is I believe that every individual has the potential to implement changes in their own life and can achieve their goals.) This approach is non-directive: that is, I do not tell you what to do, but together we talk through your problems and options. At times a Psychodynamic approach may be called for (that is, looking back at past events/experiences in order to assess their impact on present behaviours, thinking and feelings); whilst at other times it may be that your require some coping strategies to manage behaviours, thoughts and emotions (CBT). Calling on aspects of these approaches is part of my integrative approach.
I work with adults over the age of eighteen from all backgrounds, ethnicity and gender.
Practice description
My aim is: to help you explore your feelings and any problems hindering wellbeing in order to make transitions by addressing issues that may be holding you back. The ultimate aim is to enable you to manage your own feelings, find your own solutions and make autonomous decisions in order to live life in a positive manner.
I work with couples, families and groups and a wide variety of issues. My practice takes place in a quiet relaxing space, is confidential and non-judgemental.
My first session
I offer a free initial consultation that usually lasts approximately thirty minutes. This session provides you with an opportunity to meet me to see if I am the right person for you with no commitment. It also provides an opportunity for me to go through how counselling and I work, for you to outline what you need from counselling and the issues bringing you to sessions. Sessions moving forward last 50 minutes for individuals and 60 minutes for couples and groups.
