About me and my therapy practice

I am a Íø±¬ÃÅ accredited therapist who works with individuals and groups.  I am an experienced practitioner having worked within the NHS, charities, the private sector and within private practice, working in person, online and by telephone.

I work in an integrative way drawing on a range of humanistic theories and Internal Family Systems.  My work with you is IFS informed, client centred, compassionate, non-judgemental and I’m committed to the Íø±¬ÃÅ Ethical Framework.

I also provide clinical supervision to individuals or groups, as well as working for organisations to support a range of staff development and learning opportunities.

My career began in management, before moving into teaching adults, working with individuals and groups. I became particularly interested in working with people when life circumstances impacted them in ways that left them lost, confused or vulnerable, which led me to training to work as a Psychotherapist. Since qualifying as a therapist I have continued to build my experience working with others to support them in finding their own way, when life has become difficult or uncertain.

I have worked in a range of organisations, working in roles that have included working in or for the NHS, Public Sector, Private Practice, Charities and Voluntary Sector.

Whatever our work together, my purpose is to enable you to better understand your current circumstances and support you to manage your life in a more resourceful way, based on what you feel is right for you.

Practice description

Supervision is a forum that involves sharing, reflecting and reviewing via a frequent, multi-faceted, collaborative relationship; bringing out the best in those involved, enriching, empowering and making work and life more fulfilling for the individual, supervisor and client alike, as well as focusing on safeguarding our clients well being.

I work to offer Supervision that is a safe place where supervisees can develop and grow via creative teamwork; a forum in which to share experiences, offer support and respectfully challenge ourselves and our practice.

Presentation of work will ensure that client welfare is central at all times. The space allows for considered reflections on client work and experiences and importantly on any personal issues that may impact on our confidence, well being and fitness to practise.

The task of Supervision is to support professional learning and development and to monitor and improve performance. Supervision promotes reflective practice with the agenda being to focus on professional practice and feelings about practice, together with the reactions, comments and challenges experienced in the work setting.

Supervision enables the supervisee to grow in ethical competence and practise so as to give their best possible service to clients. It is ultimately a process in which clients are safeguarded and empowered to get the best help possible, whilst supporting the 'helper'/practitioner to consider their needs, well being and growth too.

My first session

In the first session, we will assess together what your supervision requirements are and how we will work together.  Our first session will explore our contract and working agreement, where we will discuss a range of areas to include:

Confidentiality, Process and Task, Enablement and Accountability, Roles and Responsibilities, Expectations, Practicalities, Evaluation and Reviews.

If we work together we will agree to regularly review and monitor our work to ensure that we are continually improving/growing and that our relationship is meeting our respective professional and personal needs.
