About me and my therapy practice

I believe that the trusting and supportive relationship between myself the counsellor and you the client is the most important aspect of counselling. I abide by Íø±¬ÃÅ's Ethical Framework for the counselling professions.

I am a thoughtful and pragmatic therapist  who seeks to provide you with a compassionate, reflective and safe space, to energise you to make the changes you need to make in your life so that you can be as for filled as possible. I am happy to work in person, over the telephone or online.

I have been working as a therapist for 25years, originally trained as a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist I use two approaches . I work in an open ended way psychodynamically, to help deal with the many issues which stem from childhood. If working more briefly I might employ a forward looking Solution Focused therapeutic approach, which helps you to understand where you are, what you want to change and to help you to get there.

I will not tell you what to do,  but support you to make your own decisions about your life.

Practice description

I work to a 50 minute hour either weekly or fortnightly. I understand that people have busy lives and might not always be able to meet at the same time and day each week, I will be as flexible as I can be to support you.

I have an interest in working with people who have had life changing health issues or who might be struggling with a situation in the workplace.

My first session

Initially we could have a brief telephone or email conversation to  arrange an appointment to meet. I believe that this is a two way process; to help me to understand how I can help you and for you to decide whether you feel that you can work with me.

If all is satisfactory we could then agree a way of working together from there. I will spend some of the first session making an assessment of what is happening for you and what has made you reach out for help.

Following this we can discuss how long we might work together for and at what interval (weekly or fortnightly).
