About me and my therapy practice
I am a Humanistic practitioner deeply committed to helping individuals reconnect with their inner strength, emotional wisdom, and innate capacity for growth.
Humanistic therapy takes a holistic, person-centred approach that honours agency, human potential, and the journey of self-discovery. My aim is to support you in developing a resilient and empowered sense of self—one that allows you to explore your emotions, make meaning of your experiences, and build upon your unique strengths.
I tailor my approach to the needs of each client, drawing from a rich tapestry of humanistic modalities including Person-Centred Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Existential Therapy, and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy). I don’t apply a one-size-fits-all model—I listen deeply first, then respond with the therapeutic tools best suited to support your healing and transformation.
My work is grounded in emotional intelligence. I help you connect to, process, and make sense of your emotional experiences—so you can navigate even the most complex internal states with clarity and compassion. Together, we create a space where your emotions are not only welcomed but become pathways to self-understanding and empowerment.
I also integrate Mindfulness practices and Mindfulness training into my sessions, guiding you to become more present, embodied, and self-aware. This supports the alleviation of anxiety, overwhelm, and disconnection—enabling you to meet life with greater calm, presence, and resilience.
Ultimately, my mission is to support you in cultivating a healthy, compassionate relationship with yourself—mind, body, and soul. I believe that true healing honours the whole system, and that mental health flourishes when we reconnect with the intelligence of both our emotional and physical selves.
Practice description
I am a Humanistic practitioner, originally from Brazil, and I’ve lived in Wales for the past 22 years. My journey into this profession is rooted in resilience and self-belief. I came to the UK at 25 years old, on my own without speaking a word of English. Today, I teach Skills Practice to Master’s-level psychotherapy students at the very university where I completed my own training a decade ago.
I hold a Master’s level diploma in Psychotherapy and Counselling Skills and have been running my private counselling and psychotherapy practice in Swansea—Esperansa Counselling and Psychotherapy Services—since 2014. I work with a broad range of clients, including self-referred individuals, NHS patients, EAP (Employee Assistance Programme) referrals, and corporate clients such as Amazon and Beacon Cymru. I provide both individual and couples counselling. I also work as a Mental Health Mentor supporting university students across the UK who live with learning differences, and I supervise Master’s students in training as well as qualified psychotherapists.
Personally, I believe that most mental health challenges are, at their core, sicknesses of the soul—a disconnection from the self that often stems from unresolved life history. In my practice, I have found that many clients are not truly living, but merely existing. They often feel lost within, trapped in past traumas or future anxieties, unable to connect with the now.
The heart of my therapeutic work lies in helping clients integrate their wounded parts, cultivate self-acceptance and authenticity, and rebuild self-esteem. I believe that only through reconnecting with our wholeness can we form genuine, fulfilling relationships—with others, with the world, and most importantly, with ourselves in the present moment.
My first session
I understand how daunting it may be in contacting an unknown professional at first, especially if you have never experienced counselling before, I am more than happy to answer any questions you might have by e-mail, telephone or text.
In order to ensure suitability, introductory 20 minutes sessions are available online or face to face free of charge. In this case, if you feel you would like to book it in without commitment, we could meet each other and decide whether we can work together. In this case, please feel free to call and make a booking.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my bio, I will be more than happy to be of services if you need!
