About me and my therapy practice
My mission is to create a safe space for anyone affected by neurodivergence. I have been a counsellor for over 20 years specialising in all areas of mental health including anxiety, depression, self-harm, eating disorders etc. Before my career as a counsellor, I worked in training and development with adults and initially trained in counselling as an extension of my work. As my knowledge and experience grew, I found that I had a natural affinity with neurodivergent teens and adults. This specialism eventually led me to my own late in life diagnosis of Autism! I can connect without coming over as cheesy or condescending. I meet my clients exactly where they are and I’m not afraid to ask those difficult questions in a way that doesn’t feel like a threat to them. I believe that everyone is more than capable of navigating life. I always look beyond the surface of behaviour issues because invariably there is more to them than they portray.
I like to work at the client's pace and I understand that with neurodivergence this can vary greatly. I focus on what "can" happen rather than what "doesn't" happen. I believe everyone has a special gift to offer the World and finding that gift can be life-changing.
Practice description
I mostly work online as I work as a school counsellor also so am generally unavailable during school hours.
I offer face to face meetings at my practice near Lichfield, Staffordshire. I can also offer some flexibility to meet clients at home or at another location (dependant on distance).
I have a combined approach to therapy so I tend to integrate different methods of counselling along with life coaching if required.
I also offer access to online assessments and helpful information should this be required.
My first session
I offer a free 15 minute online consultation prior to full sessions so that clients can decide whether we are the right fit for each other and whether I can meet support needs.
I offer one-off sessions and also discounts on bundles (see my website for more information)
