About me and my therapy practice
I am available to discuss your therapeutic needs and to answer any questions you may have regarding the counselling process by telephone, prior to making an appointment.
I understand that commencing counselling may seem daunting and would like to offer you reassurance and any required information in order to make it as comfortable as possible for you. I especially understand that experiencing anxiety and looking for strategies to help you initially cope then in time thrive requires courage, I am open to starting our work by phone before meeting in person where that is preferred.
I use an Integrative Approach to counselling which means we will meet and discuss how you believe counselling may be helpful for you and discuss how we will shape our work together, whether this be a place for you simply 'off load', or a place to grieve, set goals and or explore your feelings and life experiences. Of course you may benefit from a combination of these options. Our work together will always be at your pace and organic.
Couples work often focuses on improving communication and building intimacy, I have been honoured to work many individuals and couples work through a variety of complex relationship issues and achieve their goals. Perhaps this is something that may appeal to you.
Practice description
My primary intention is to hold a safe therapeutic space, where you have the dignity to be met in a confidential, non judgemental compassionate environment.
I work with individuals and couples who are looking for support and direction as they navigate challenges and desired changes.
I have many years experience in supporting friends and families who have been affected by addiction be this individually or in couples work.
I have clients who seek short term work and many who find that longer term work is beneficial, I fully appreciate we are all unique beings with personal preferences and individual requirements which is why your therapeutic journey is unique to you.
My first session
We can use our first session to discuss your current situation and how you feel counselling may be helpful to you. If I believe a peer or different type of service would better suit your needs I would be open in discussing this with you. If we both feel that moving forward and working together feels right, we would outline expectations of our work together including frequency and duration of sessions.
