About me and my therapy practice
I am a registered member of the Íø±¬ÃÅ and a qualified Person-Centred Counsellor with 13 years of experience working with clients from all ages and backgrounds.
I have extensive experience in working with young people and adults in both secondary and higher education; adults struggling with serious drug and alcohol abuse (including having worked in residential rehabilitation); clients with eating disorders (including Anorexia, Bulimia, Binge eating disorder and OSFED); and in working with a range of mental health issues, such as anxiety, depression, self-harm and suicidal ideation with adults and young people. I am also particularly experienced and practised in working with bereavement; childhood abuse; relationship and attachment issues; and issues relating to the self (such as identity and self-esteem). Before training to become a therapist, I worked with adults and young people who were homeless for 6 years, and in addition to training to be a qualified Counsellor I also hold an Undergraduate Degree in Psychology combined with Counselling Skills.
I am qualified in the Person-Centred approach and have covered skills and theory in others approaches within my first degree, including Psychodynamic Therapy and Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy. This allows me to be eclectic and flexible in my work with my clients, according to their needs, as I possess a range of knowledge and skills from various fields of therapy. I also have extensive experience in delivering single-session therapy, whereby clients just attend one single session to explore something in a specific and focused way. In addition, I am trained in understanding and working with clients who are neurodiverse.
I will offer you an accepting, safe and confidential space to discuss your thoughts, feelings and experiences about the issues you wish to address. My aim is to work with you in a way which suits your individual needs, to support you in finding new and more helpful ways to move in the direction you wish to.
Practice description
I currently have some spaces available across the week (as per my schedule above), so please enquire about my availability.
I offer face to face sessions or online sessions via Zoom. I offer short and long term therapy; but I primarily work in an open-ended way with my clients, until they feel ready to end sessions.
I also offer single-session therapy if you prefer not to have ongoing sessions, so please do enquire about this.
Please note I work with individual adults (18+) and the elderly only in my practice.
My first session
If you wish to enquire further about my practice, I can offer you more information at no cost, by email, text, or a short telephone call, to help you decide if you wish to book in a first session.
I do charge for a first session (of 1hr in duration) where we can discuss you needs in more depth, and to discuss the work we may be able to do together before you decide if you wish to continue.
Please don't hesitate to get in touch for further information, there is no obligation for you to begin sessions. It is highly important you find the therapist who feels suited to your needs.
If you do wish to continue, I will go through my contract information at this time, which outlines my practice and our working agreement in more detail. You won't be required to complete any assessment tools within our work together.
