About me and my therapy practice
Starting therapy can be a big step and I really believe in the right timing and right therapist for each person. Just like you wouldn't walk down the street and make friends with just anyone you came across, it's important to find the right therapist for you. I welcome enquiries from everyone and I am happy to chat through what I can offer whether or not you decide to go ahead.
I offer therapy face to face and online. Our work may be shorter term (around 6 sessions) or longer term depending on what you need. I work with adults, couples and young people. (Please note, I do not work with young people younger than 18 online)
Whilst my initial training is integrative, Internal Family Systems (IFS - please see my website for further information) therapy is a way of working that I am exploring more and more together with clients because I truly believe in the awareness it opens up and the healing that it offers. This can feel different to traditional talking therapy but it also allows for creative working if this feels right for you; physically with sand tray, drawing or modelling, visually with imagery or using music that you connect with.
Practice description
My philosophy
I offer a space for you to arrive just as you are and it's human nature that this will look different on different days. Often when we are in the midst of a challenging time or situation it can be hard to find perspective or the space that we need to evaluate what choices we have. Or it may be you have a clear goal but you don't know how to get there.
My approach is to help you make a little room to see where you want to go next or to support you to understand what might be getting in your way or keeping you stuck. We are the experts on ourselves, but there are some things that we just aren't meant to do alone and we just need a little help.
What I can help with
People come to therapy for all sorts of reasons. It may be that you have a particular issue that you are struggling with; anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, a bereavement, or it may be that you aren't really sure where to start and you just need a space where you can share some thoughts and get some support to find a path forward. I am happy to answer any questions or queries you might have without you feeling obligated to move forward if it doesn't feel right for you.
What I offer
I support a lot of individuals and couples navigating life's big transitions; families, relationships, parenting, loss. Sometimes that can be looking back on past experience to let go of what might be keeping you stuck, or looking at how you can make choices to move forward in your life that identify and reflect your own needs and values.
Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy
I am a Level 2 IFS Therapist and feel really passionately about how understanding ourselves and others in this way can help us find some calm and peace. Often we come to therapy when things feel like they're not working and IFS can open up new ways to make sense of our experience. (Please see my website for further information)
Fees: £65 p/hr - Adults
£70 p/hr - Under 18's
£80 p/hr - Couples
My first session
When you first make contact with me we would arrange a time to speak on the phone or online. This call would last 15/20 minutes and provide you with the opportunity to ask any questions that you may have and to decide whether you would like to move forward with an initial appointment.
If you did decide to proceed, in our first session we would talk about what had bought you to therapy, if you had a goal or focus (it's okay if not) and what would feel right for you moving forward. We might then make an agreement about how many sessions you would like to have, or it may be that you would like to keep things more open and have regular check ins about how you feel things are going and if you're getting what you need.
