Exploring Self-Care and Burnout among Experienced South Asian Counsellors: An IPA Study

I am Dwensy Haresh, and I am studying MSc Counselling at the University of Northampton, conducting research for my dissertation. The study has received ethical approval from the Ethics Committee of the University of Northampton.
The purpose of this study is to understand self-care and burnout amongst experienced South Asian therapists, exploring their perspective and their life experiences. Providing a voice to an underrepresented group, taking into account their professional life, their personal life and cultural life.
Criteria:
ï‚§ 18+
ï‚§ Qualified Counsellor (currently practising)
ï‚§ South Asian (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and mixed-race)
ï‚§ 3+ years of experience
ï‚§ Based in the UK
ï‚§ Access to a device where audio can be shared
What does the study entail?
- Online interview on MS Teams, 45-60 minutes.
- The interview will be audio-recorded for analysis.
- All identifiable information will be pseudonymised and stored securely.
- Information sheet, Consent form, and Interview questions will be shared in advance.
- Participant can withdraw at any time before the interview is complete.
