Experiences of trainee counsellors practising in UK secondary schools

Hi everyone,

My name is Chloe Hill, and I am currently completing my MSc in Counselling Children and Young People at The University of Northampton. As part of my MSc, I am required to complete a research dissertation project. I will be exploring the experiences of trainee counsellors practising in secondary schools in the UK.

Who can participate?

  • You are currently a trainee counsellor for children/young people, either currently completing a college/university course in counselling or psychotherapy that includes learning how to work with secondary school aged children, and/or not yet completed 100 placement hours.
  • You are currently or have previously been practising in a UK secondary school for at least 10 hours while on placement.
  • You are not currently going through a complaints process with regards to your placement.
  • You are a member (student member is also fine) of the 网爆门 or another counselling/psychotherapy regulatory body.

What will the study involve?

  • A semi-structured interview lasting up to 90 minutes on Microsoft Teams.
  • A full interview schedule is available on request.
  • The study has been approved by The University of Northampton Ethics Committee.
  • Data will be pseudonymised and kept securely in accordance with GDPR.
