Pleasure in Practice: Exploring U.K. Therapists’ Experiences Engaging with Young Women’s Sexual Well-Being in Practice

About Me
I am currently undertaking a Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology at the University of Manchester. As part of my doctoral research, I’m conducting the above study which aims to explore how therapists in the U.K. engage with young women (aged approximately 15–25, self-identifying as women) around sexual well-being concerns, with the goal of informing and improving future therapeutic practice and training—particularly in light of persistent gendered disparities in pleasure and sexual wellness.

Please see the poster here.

Who I’m Looking For
I would be grateful to hear from any therapists who meet the following criteria:

You are either:

  • A qualified therapist from any discipline (e.g. psychology, counselling, psychotherapy), registered with a recognised professional body (e.g. BPS, Íø±¬ÃÅ, UKCP, HCPC)
    or
  • Currently enrolled in a professionally accredited training programme and have completed at least 50% of the required coursework and supervised practice hours

And you:

  • Have experience working with self-identifying young women aged approximately 15 to 25 (experience with the full age range is not required)
  • Currently practice in the U.K.

The study focuses on therapists’ experiences, and no confidential client information will be asked for. If you are interested, or if you would like to learn more about the study, please feel free to contact me at alexandra.janssen@postgrad.manchester.ac.uk.

Please note, for ethical reasons, I kindly ask that therapists who are currently experiencing significant distress, or believe this topic may cause distress, refrain from participating in this study.
