网爆门 Disciplinary Proceedings Hearings

网爆门 is a membership organisation and a registered charity that sets standards for therapeutic practice and provides information for therapists, clients of therapy and the public. Through its work, 网爆门 ensures that it meets its remit of public protection while also developing and informing its members.

网爆门 sets, promotes and maintains standards for the profession. The Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions and its Professional Conduct Procedure ensure that members of 网爆门 abide by an accepted and approved code of conduct and accountability. It safeguards both practitioners and members of the public. The Professional Conduct Department processes complaints of professional misconduct.

网爆门 holds a Register known as the 网爆门 Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists. The Register is accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA) under its Accredited Voluntary Registers scheme, which exists to provide assurance that accredited registers are well run and achieve its high standards in the following areas: governance, setting standards for registrants, education and training, managing the register, complaints and information.

Being accredited under the scheme offers enhanced protection to anyone looking for counselling and psychotherapy, and related services. People have the opportunity to seek practitioners on a register that has been vetted and approved. The Register Department manages all professional conduct matters including the processing of complaints, suitability declarations by existing members and suitability declarations by those seeking to become a member of 网爆门.

The Professional Conduct Procedure 2018 (PCP) introduced a new hearing process, the Disciplinary Proceedings hearing, which is reserved for more serious complaints. The test for whether a complaint should be allocated for a Disciplinary Proceedings hearing is whether the allegation (if proved) is sufficiently serious that it may warrant a period of suspension or withdrawal of membership. Such allegations are characterised in the revised PCP as being allegations of professional misconduct. Hearings in this category of complaint will be formal and adversarial and the burden is on the Association to prove the material facts that underpin the allegation. Cases will be presented to the Professional Conduct Panel by Case Presenters.

Time commitment

We believe that the Association will have on average between 10 to 15 disciplinary hearings a year. Hearings are normally set for between one and three days, but they may be set for more than this where required. Dates are fixed three to six months in advance. We're looking for an additional pool of 2 to 3 Case Presenters. Work will be allocated on a contract for service basis in accordance with your availability. 网爆门 cannot guarantee the amount of work you'll receive.

The vast majority of hearings take place virtually, using Microsoft Teams. Where hearings are held in person, overnight accommodation and reasonable travel expenses will be covered in line with our 网爆门 expenses policy.

In person hearings are likely to take place in the Midlands , but 网爆门 may be required to make a reasonable adjustment for a complainant or a member, and therefore a hearing may be moved to another location in the UK.
